“Thought is responsible for, if not all, then most of the suffering we experience,” says Jim Carrey. Who’d have pegged this comedian maga star as an awakened one, holding a guiding light for others to follow? As it turns our Carrey’s been studying the teachings of Eckhart Tolle for some years now, and had his ‘awakening moment’ when he was able to observe his own thinking. The result? Expansive freedom. “I saw,” he says, “that I was bigger than what I do, than my body … than everything.”

In the witnessing of thought, we can indeed become whole with the universe, rather than the fragmented self most of us thought we were. Have you had this experience of witnessing? Was it fleeting, like riding a wave, or can you connect with it any time? How has it changed your experience of living? Share with me in the comments below.
